We Chinese have it so good. We celebrate the New-New Year with the rest of the world, where we go all out with the fireworks, the partying, the booze, the meaningless wishes and resolutions, and the general chaos.
And then we celebrate our exclusive Chinese New Year, where we go all out with the fireworks, the partying, the food, the meaningless wishes, the ang pao, and the general chaos. And we take it one step further by celebrating 15 days of it. Yup, we're so awesome we can outdo any freaking celebration :)
Did I mention the fireworks?
It was great the first night in Batu Pahat, Johor, with the floating lanterns, and fireworks exploding basically everywhere you'd think every family in that small town bought their own fireworks. Not just the small lame ones that fizzle and crackle and die out before making a valid impression on anyone, either. Big ass epic ones that's Beijing Olympics-worthy. (That's a small exaggeration, if you didn't catch it.)
Beautiful. At first.
And then they started doing it every night.
Bloody Chinese find any excuse to set off fireworks.
Blergh anyway I'm done with ranting today. Lack of sleep has made me incredibly grumpy and I have been storming around all day and ranting and kicking Razik's shins, poor dude. It's not his fault the universe has conspired to be irritating today.
Picture time!
Ok this is technically not Chinese New Year related, but I went to Waffle World with Kenneh Kan before leaving for Johor and we shared a waffle nom nom nom.
Look at that beautiful thing! The syrup! The vanilla ice-cream! The peaches! (Which Kenny claims are canned and therefore not real peaches =.=) Sitting on top of a golden-brown crispy melt-in-your-mouth freshly made waffle. For 7 bucks?
Worth it, in my opinion. :)'
The sunset view in front of my house :) We've been blessed with pretty good weather these few days, apart from yanno, the floods and stuff. Surprisingly good weather, because the weather usually conspires around this time of year to make CNY visitations/gatherings/traveling as dull and hot and torturing as possible.
And look what Kenny found in his car! After its disappearance for almost half a year, I believe. Still in good condition sitting nicely in one corner of his backseat wtf. Good for me because I was heartbroken when I thought I lost it :(
Favourite charm bracelet, ever.
We (5 cousins + 3 siblings) went on a Ramly's rampage in Kluang. Best. Ramly's. EVER. They fry it with curry powder and marijuana leaves. The latter is just a guess though.
This is my brother's Ramly's burger; it's called the Double Double Special. Picture doesn't look impressive? It had two eggs with double yolks (2 + 2 = 4 yolks!), two amazing magic patties, cheese lettuce onions sauce buns the whole jazz.
I gained 3kg just gazing at it in awe.
Ok that's pretty much the extent of my 2011 CNY experiences. Not much, I know, but hey! There's still 10 more days of it left! :)
